It all started with yoga... In August 2008, I enrolled in Yoga Teacher Training at Gaia Flow Yoga in Addison, TX. While studying to get my teaching license, we learned about how the body is surround by toxins and chemicals and that it's best to keep the products that we apply to our bodies and homes as natural as possible. First, it started with me changing my deodorant. After learning about the effects of Aluminum Chloride on the body and its link to breast cancer I decided to switch. I went from using Secret Platinum and Degree to only buying Toms of Maine's Lavender Deodorant. It might mean I'll have slightly damp pits... but at least I'll be able to keep my tits in the long run. And for someone like me whose dad side of the gene pool is cancer ridden, you want to take every precaution you can!
The switch to natural deodorant opened new doors for me. From there, I went to switching all of my household cleaning products to natural and environmentally friendly products. Check out Clorox's new GreenWorks line! They use ingredients that are less likely to cause environmental damage but clean and disinfect just as good! As I was slowly switching out my cleaning products, the items in my refrigerator also were taking on a transformation of their own. Vegetables were turning into organic vegetables, fruits had to be labeled ORGANIC as well, organic free range chicken and eggs, and most importantly, grass-fed, hormone and antibiotic free beef & pork. (If you haven't watched Food, Inc. yet, I highly recommend that you do!). I also started growing my own vegetables and herbs as well.
One herb turned into two. Two turned into five (and that's not including the two orchids plants either). Now my husband refuses to let me grow any more until the weather gets warm enough for me to move some of them outside. I have to admit though, that it is nice to have the scent of rosemary and lavender in my living room. This fancy of scents led me into researching ways that I could use the herbs I grow at home for beauty and health purposes.
I've always heard about the wonderful benefits of Rosemary on hair so decided to put my herbs to use in that way first. After trying concoction after concoction, I finally found a mixture that I like. Rosemary infused water, Vitamin E, Eucalyptus Oil, and Lavender. I put this mixture in my hair after showering and let it air dry and love it! The Rosemary cleans and strengthens the hair follicles and gets rid of all the gunk and build up that collects from hair products. This includes your everyday shampoos and conditioners. They leave build up too! This leads to voluminous hair. Vitamin E makes the hair grow faster as well as gives it luster, shine, and softness. The Eucalyptus invigorates the scalp and senses while Lavender and Rosemary paired together are believed to reduce hair loss in the long run.
After making 15 sample bottles and handing them out to friends and fellow yogi's, I have officially started my Research and Development process. So far so good! Pepping's Naturals is already making changes for the better. For instance, I found clear bottles with spray tops for easier application rather than the drip tops that I had before. The clear bottles are nice due to the fact that you are able to see the natural color of the hair rinse compared to the clear but colored bottles I used at first. I've added more scent and have contemplated adding another ingredient to give the scalp a cool, minty feeling when applied. A big "THANK YOU" to all who are a part of this process. Without your input and encouragement there would be no product! Keep checking in for updates and feel free to email us at PeppingsNaturals@gmail.com for a sample!
